Anwesha Chakraborty


Anwesha is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Urbino where she studies the role of generative AI in detecting disinformation in online media ecosystems. Previously, she was a research fellow at the University of Bologna, Italy where she was part of the ERC-funded BIT-ACT project that investigated the role of digital technologies in fighting corruption from the grassroots. She gathered qualitative data on this topic in South Asia, where she recognised that for anti-corruption action to flourish, information channels and systems need to be strengthened
 
Her research interests include anti-corruption initiatives, freedom of information, open data infrastructures, e-governance and more recently , fact checking in the age of media capture. Her research outputs can be found here
 
Anwesha played an active role in the organisation committee of the 8th ICRN Forum 2024 in Lisbon.
